Things I Remember from my Childhood

I was born on September 14th in 1987 in San Vito, Coto Brus, Puntarenas. San Vito is a small town known as Italian Colony due to a lot of Italian migrants who came to live there about 100 years ago. There, in San Vito, I have my family, aunts, uncles, cousins and my grandparents, I always go there to visit my grandmother Alicia, I really love to be there.

During my first six years I used to be in the field. While my uncles were sowing, I was playing with the cows or crossing the rivers. Those were nice moments! Every night I liked to hear stories from my uncles in the outside of my grandmother’s house, some of those stories were scary.

When I was six years old my parents decided to move to Guápiles. I was so sad when they decided it because I had to be apart from my family. I didn't know anything about Guapiles; it was a bad experience. I was away from my friends and my family but I found new friends and new experiences.

At 9 years old I learned to skate and to make a lot of tricks but I was always with scraped knees, I had a lot of accidents in my skates. I also remember some weekends of my childhood, while my mom was cooking rice with chicken I was playing with my neighbors and swimming in the pool.

During my childhood I learned a lot of important things for my life such as being responsible and to love my studies. Since I was a little girl I loved to learn about art and in general for some cultural aspects. I was always dancing in the school; I loved to participate in dance performances.

I have a lot of memories about my childhood but the most important memory is that my parents gave me a lot of values, they taught me the importance of being a professional and now this is what makes the woman I am today, full of passion and love for this life.

My name is Fabiola Mora Guillén, I'm 27 years old. I'm in a Grammar Course at the University of Costa Rica and I feel excited about that. I have one year without taking any course so now I'm trying to improve myself.
I'm writing this profile now to share how I feel and of course to share as soon as possible what I'll learn. It's a great opportunity to take this course, I hope I can learn better skills in grammar.

I live with my parents in their house in Guápiles, I share my room with my little sister Engie, we are good friends, she always helps me with my issues. I want to have my own apartment and live alone, but, honestly, I really love to live with my family, I love my mother's food!

In my free time I practice aerial dance with hanging silks, I always think how to hang a silk and dance in any place. Every saturday I go to San José city in order to have my aerial dance class in Danzaire's Academy.
I'm also a Ballet instructor, I work with children, I'm always giving them the best motivation to dance. I love to see those little girls using tutus, tights and ballet shoes, they are adorable!

So, this is me, Fabi, getting always new experiences...

I love this, oh yeah!

The role of technology in English Teaching

febrero 23, 2010

Hello everyone, I open this blog assuming the teacher has a high responsibility in the process of teaching and the poor efficiency and quality of education. Also, this has to do with its design and implementation of instructional design and teaching in general. If this is so, then the teacher must not only deal with social demands, transmission and generation of knowledge, but to use and implement strategies in terms of educational technologies that expand the potential and achieve in students the flexibility needed to metacognoscitiva transfer and application in the cultural, social, productive and in which they operate. Based on these considerations, I would like to hear the opinions of our guests, using the benefits of this technological environment.

Technophobia vrs technophilia

While information technology and communication have managed to be the tool that facilitates the tasks in almost every sphere of our lives, and we have accepted with pleasure, this has led to definitions that in some situations place it in is quite small.
These technological advances coined new terms such as:
- Technophobia - is the rejection of technology, resulting in societies technophobes.
This contributes to the formation of computer illiterate.
- Technophilia - technophilia term etymologically means love of technology (techno-technology; subsidiaries hobby)
Technophobia
Sometimes people can get to blame the technology, the problems of society, and this charge can catch up with countries in promoting the technology. Technophobia is the fear of technology, technology is to blame for all the ills of society. In this sense we could even think, that this rejection of technology, promotes a return to a natural state, before technological discoveries.
Sometimes it is called the Luddite Ludita ( "Luddite"), referring to the revolt staged by the labor movement, led by Ned Ludd in England in 1811, and destroyed the textile machinery, feeling that it was work obsolete.
Among the companies technophobes, one of the most renowned are the Amish, whose settlements are in the U.S. and Canada. The Amish are a group of immigrants, most of them Swiss and German speaking, promoting basic restrictions on the use of automobiles and electricity.
Technophilia
It is difficult not be technophile in modern times, where technology gives us the tool that solves many of our everyday problems.
A technophile society is one that expects the technology is the tool to assist in solving many human problems, curing diseases, etc ... and looks that humans also fits these advances.
The most important thing in all this human action, is to understand that technology is a tool to serve people, not the other way, in that it creates dependency on people.
We must not become obsessed by acquiring the latest technological advances, as if our life depended on it, we need only access the necessary tool for us.
Consumerism by technological advances, it can very quickly become an obsession
